Rathgar Avenue Residents Had a Rude Awakening

This normally quiet residential neighbourhood was the scene of disturbing police presence early this morning when five police cruisers surrounded a home in the  500 block of South Osborne area  after some residents believed they saw a man with firearm.  The incident ended when officers escorted a dishevelled, bare chested man to a waiting cruiser for transport to the Main Street Project to sober up. At least one person was taken into police custody. It's not yet known if a weapon was seized.
It is just a wake up call that no community is safe from vanguards and every member of any community who cares about safety and well being should use their eyes and ears to alert police of any suspicious behaviours. South Osborne residents generally are very vigilant about these things and anyone with ideas of making this area their haunt might have to look elsewhere.  These people are on  to you and will not allow thugs to spoil a good neighbourhood for families. No neighbourhood should.
The Police are doing a great job but there are only so many officers to go around. Communities have to be proactive.
Let us take Winnipeg out of the City of Shame for its criminal statistics and put it back where it belongs to be one of the safest and best places to live in Canada. Do not let us make the thugs win.
