Forum Brings Together Business Leaders From Around The World
Premier Greg Selinger today welcomed business leaders and entrepreneurs from around the world to Winnipeg for Centrallia 2012, the global forum designed to help Manitoba businesses increase their international opportunities.
“Entrepreneurs from across the globe are gathering in Winnipeg today to participate in this business conference,” said Selinger. “Centrallia 2010 was a great networking event and proved to be a wonderful opportunity to showcase what Manitoba companies have to offer.  This year, Centrallia continues that objective by providing a matchmaking system that brings together Manitoba and international businesses, allowing them to develop relationships and mutual opportunities.”
The Government of Manitoba provided $600,000 to Centrallia to support the conference’s unique business-to-business approach.  The business forum capitalizes on Manitoba’s location at the heart of North America to promote the province’s key role in the mid-continent trade and transportation corridor and will help to increase business trade, investments and partnerships with Europe, the United States and South America, said Selinger.
In attendance will be more than 600 business leaders from more than 40 world economic regions, as well as chambers of commerce, world trade centres, economic development agencies and government trade representatives.
Centrallia is based on the internationally recognized business-to-business matchmaking forum Futurallia, which has successfully brought thousands of businesses together since its founding in 1990.  At the core of the concept are a series of prearranged one-on-one meetings that allow businesses to quickly connect and find ground for common opportunity.
